Safe and Brave Space Norms

  • We respect each other. We ask questions about and validate others’ experiences.
  • We will likely disagree at times. When we do, we will ask questions and avoid debates.
  • We respect and are attentive to the person speaking.
  • We use I-statements to speak for ourselves, not for our general identity groups.
  • We will make mistakes; we are learning and growing. When others make mistakes, we assume good intent. When we make mistakes, we acknowledge them.
  • We have the right to practice self-care. We have the right to remove ourselves from activities or dialogue.
  • We will grow comfortable being uncomfortable together.
  • We do not have answers to every question, nor do our facilitators or presenters. We will do our best to listen to and answer all questions appropriately.
